It’s about that time of year again! The sun is out longer, the boots are put away in the closet and jacket weather is turned into patio drinking weather. Lucky for all of us, we have one of the best patios in town. We get excited for spring, not just because of patio weather but because it means Art-A-Whirl (Official)®, the largest open studio tour in the United States, is almost here. Come celebrate at 612Brew during Art-A-Whirl®, May 19-21 as we throw our 5th annual party featuring amazing NEMAA artists, local musicians, food trucks and great craft beer.
As proud continuing members of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) we are excited to host only artists that are members of NEMAA for 2017. Showcasing their work all weekend long will be Dogfish Media, Melinda Wolff – Art, Cory Favre and Samantha Schultz. In effort to encourage visitors to purchase art at any of the other open studios in Northeast Minneapolis during Art-A-Whirl®, guests at 612Brew who show a receipt for an art purchase will enjoy a free beer on the house.
You’re sure to get hungry walking from studio to studio all weekend long, but fear not, we have some food provided by Vito Lucco Pizza co., and Heavy Metal Grill on Friday and on Saturday we have The Outlaw Grill-Food Truck, Simply Steve’s Food Truck and Little G’s Mobile Pizzeria. Not to mention great treats from O’Neil Amusements and Cranky’s Ice Cream on both days.
Let’s be honest, beer is important too. I mean, you gotta keep your thirst quenched. We will have our cash-only draft trailer outside, our beer tubs for by the stage to grab a quick can, or you can head inside and grab a beer from either of our two bars. Cash is king, but sure, we’ll take your credit card too, just know it’s a $10 minimum… so, hey, just bring cash.
To amp up the fun in 2017 we are bringing in Jackalope Tattoo to do a pop up tattoo shop in the brewery. Choose from a number of sweet flash designs to get inked on body in record time by the extraordinary ladies from Jackalope Tattoo. Tattoos times will fill up fast and are on a first-come basis. Tattoo times will be available after 5pm on Friday and after 12pm on Saturday. We dare you go get an AAW612 tattoo.
As usual we will have some amazing local musicians hitting our one of a kind amphitheater, with this year’s headliners being Absolute Gruv on Friday May 19 and The 4onthefloor on Saturday May 20th. Set times for all the music goes like this.

The stuff you should know before you come. Bags will be checked. Yup. Everyone’s gonna have to get over it. No outside alcohol allowed. This is a brewery, guys. We have beer inside for you. Leave your flasks and stuff at home. This is an all-ages event but you must be 21+ to drink. Wrist bands are required to get a beer. No exceptions. Cash bars always move faster than credit cards, so bring cash, or use our cash machine. Remember, if you need to use your card at the bar there is a $10 minimum charge. Lastly, please leave your four-legged friends at home. Animals are not allowed both on the patio and in the brewery.
